Smokey Nights in Newgrange Hotel

The Russell Suite of the Newgrange Hotel was transported back to a nostalgic club atmosphere of the 1940/'50s for the recent 'Smokey Nights' debut performance. Dim lighting, candlelit tables, an intimate setting, old style microphone and a cocktail bar all set the mood for the Jazz cabaret club. It was felt that there was an opening for this style of music in the area and what better way to keep it alive than travel back to a time with the wonderful unforgettable songs of that era by such artists as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Judy Garland and Billie Holliday to name but a few. Smokey Nights consists of four singers, Caithriona Mongey, Margaret "Midge" Sheerin, Aiden McCluskey and David Halleran, with the talented Amanda Weldon on piano and stage, with sound and lighting by Enda Nugent. The night was very well received by all who attended and resulted in a standing ovation for the cast at the end of the performance. The organisers aim is to put this show on once a month. The next performance of Smokey Nights is Friday 27th November in the Russell Suite, Newgrange Hotel, Navan. Doors opening at 9pm, show starts at 9.30pm, with early booking as seats are limited. Tickets €10, to book call Caithriona on (087) 965 8850.
