Go Native in vogue at Tipperary

Castletown trainer Noel Meade saw his Cheltenham Festival winner Go Native return to action on a positive note at Tipperary on Sunday when Paul Carberry won the Friends of Tipperary grade two hurdle. Carberry sent Go Native to the front approaching the second last for a comfortable victory. "Go Native is a very smart horse and he's probably best when fresh, he will go to Down Royal next where there is a race for second year novices and we'll take it from there," stated the trainer. Also at Tipperary on Sunday the Eddie Lynam-trained Duff recorded his eighth career win after he landed the Concorde Stakes under Fran Berry who narrowly got the better of the Ger Lyons-trained Dohasa. "We are considering a trip to Hong Kong, we need a rating of 115 to have a choice of the mile or a sprint over there and we might manage that after this win," stated the Dunshaughlin-based trainer. Nina Carberry added to her tally for the season when she guided the Charlie Swan-trained Dumitas to victory in the bumper. Meade maintained his recent good form when he was on the mark at Gowran Park on Friday when Jewel Of The West (5/2) ran out a good winner of a beginners chase under Barry Geraghty. Tony Martin's Keelaghan also won a handicap chase at the track on Friday. The Skryne-based Up At Six Syndicate were in the winners' enclosure at the Kilkenny track on Saturday when Narquois, also trained by Meade, won a beginners chase. Limerick trainer Seamus Braddish's Doctor Scott landed a maiden hurdle which was a sixth winner of the season for Navan jockey Andrew Thornton. Lynam was also on the mark at Dundalk on Friday when Sugar Baby Love got the better of Gerry Keane's Keen Look in a one-mile handicap. Aidan O'Brien's Irish 2000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes winner Mastercraftsman was the main attraction at the Louth track where Johnny Murtagh steered the colt to a five-length victory over Fiery Lad. Mastercraftsman will be aimed at the Breeders' Cup in Santa Anita for his next assignment. Murtagh, who had a busy weekend, was in the winners' enclosure at Longchamp on Sunday when he powered to a surprise victory with Total Gallery in the Prix de l'Abbaye for English trainer Stan Moore. Aidan Howard was successful at Sligo on Thursday when Greengables came home in front in the hands of Robbie Dunne for a 12-length success. Slane-based trainer Pat Martin was on the mark at Sligo on Wednesday when Dunboyne jockey Padraig Beggy got Footprint home ahead of the field in a nursery handicap. Beggy settled the son of Footstepsinthesand behind the leaders and improved to challenge approaching the home straight and won by three lengths. "The trip is certainly as short as he would have wanted it and he will probably have one more run this season," suggested the trainer. Amateur jockey Andrew Duff was in double form at Roscommon on Tuesday evening of last week. Trainer Joanna Morgan also completed a double when Duff won a bumper for her with A Hit Is A Hit which gave the Dunsany jockey his sixth bumper winner of the season. Duff also won the other bumper on the card with the Richard Brabazon-trained Red Star Boy which could be heading to the sales. Morgan's other winner at Roscommon was Whispering Wind (8/13).
