National Lottery funds new bus for Summerhill

Summerhill"s new Community Bus, purchased with the help of National Lottery Funding, was recently launched in the village. The 'Bus For Us" is a 14-seater, wheelchair-accessible bus which should prove to be a great asset to the community of Summerhill. It will be used to bring the elderly and infirm citizens of Summerhill and its surrounding areas to Summerhill Community Centre where a three-course meal is served from Monday to Friday each week under the Fas Community Employment Project. It will also ferry school-going children attending The Hive, Summerhill"s Community Childcare Centre, to and from school and also provide transport during summer camps. The vehicle will provide transport, too, to local voluntary sports clubs and other organisations to matches and other activities. The 'Bus For Us" project is managed by a local voluntary committee and Pat Dunne, Fas CE supervisor, said the people of Summerhill are very proud of their new acquisition.
