Opportunity to select your best Leinster teams

Leinster Council GAA has launched a competition to pick the greatest provincial football and hurling teams from the last 25 years as part of the 125 celebrations. The prize for the winner in each category will be an invitation as guests at the provincial hurling or football finals at Croke Park and an overnight at Jury"s Croke Park hotel on the night before each game. A team of adjudicators has short-listed 120 players, four for each position, to form a panel of 60 players in both hurling and football who have made their mark at senior level from 1984 to 2008 and Meath have players nominated in every position for the football team except left half-forward. It wouldn"t have looked out of place to have featured Trevor Giles at left half-forward and Tommy Dowd as centre-forward as both men would surely deserve to be on the best Leinster team for the last 25 years. No Meath players have been nominated for the hurling side and while it is unrealistic to expect anyone from the Royal county to be selected on the team surely Kilmessan"s Nicky Horan deserved to be nominated at left half-forward. Entrants are invited to submit their best team of the last 25 years from the lists below to www.leinstergaa.ie by Wednesday, 24th June. The winners will also receive a set of jerseys for their nominated clubs.
