Kells needs new roadsweepers

Kells Town Council urgently needs to upgrade its road-sweeping equipment if the town is to be kept clean, according to local election candidate, Philip Heary. He said the current 'green machine" needs repair and additional modern equipment is needed to make the town clean for locals and tourists alike. 'Kells is a heritage town and needs to be kept clean and tidy for the benefit of local people, and also for tourism. The council staff do their best to keep the town clean, but their current equipment is in disrepair and outdated,' he said. He said they needed at least one roadsweeper and two self-propelled manual sweepers. 'The use of council staff physically picking up litter is inefficient and ineffective. It is time these hard-working staff were given the proper equipment. Navan has at least three sweepers, so surely a town as big and important as Kells could get a couple,' added the Sinn Fein town council candidate.
