Kilskyre"s Glebe House returns to market

Period residence The Glebe in Kilskyre is back on the market. It was sold last summer but the new owners have decided to sell due to a change in circumstances. The asking price is €1.5 million, for the property on about five acres (two hectares). The Glebe is a recently restored Georgian house and stone yard surrounded by mature gardens and good grazing land protected by mature woodland. Approached through cast iron automated gates via a long rhododendron and laurel lined avenue the house is well protected with a southerly aspect. The well proportioned reception rooms and principal bedrooms have long sash windows with high ceilings (11 feet), are full of light with lovely views across the gardens, orchard and surrounding paddocks. To the front of the house are expansive formal lawns interspersed with herbaceous beds and bordered by a rose garden, beyond which lies an apple orchard and walled garden that forms an ideal sun trap and perfect spot for barbecues and entertaining on long summer evenings. The Glebe consists of 4,500 square feet, and accommodation includes entrance hall, stairs, drawing room, dining room, study, sitting room, library with carved wooden fireplace, solid fuel stove and fitted bookshelves. On the first floor is a large spacious landing, four bedrooms, two en-suite. A stairs leads to the garden level where there is a family room with an exposed beamed ceiling; wine cellar with original bins; kitchen with four oven oil fired Aga, Belfast sink, and original flagstone floor, utility room, cloakroom, and a fifth bedroom with en-suite. The immediate grounds that surround the house comprise approximately 1.5 acres and include the gardens, orchard and yard. The remaining 3.5 acres are divided into three paddocks that are presently in permanent pasture. To the rear of the house is a fine stone yard with a coach house, three loose boxes, overhead loft, lean-to fuel shed an potting shed. Behind the yard is a derelict two storey cottage that could easily be restored. There are four more loose boxes, two sheds and a recently constructed glass house.
