Local singers and musicians feature on 'Voices of Navan"
Navan is Meath"s county town, so it is only fitting that a CD entitled 'Voices of Navan" would feature artistes from all over the county, as well as Navan"s own home-produced stars. One of the initiatives of the recent St Patrick"s Day Festival in the town was the compilation of a fundraising CD featuring local singers and musicians. Among the tracks featured is 'Navan is her Name" written and sung by Eddie Who and specially commissioned by the Festival. The artistes involved wanted to give something back to the town. They include Eamon MacDonncha, Rascal, Simon Fagan, Seana Davey, Margie Reynolds, Ruairi Somers, Noel Castles, Tommy Weldon, Patrick Joyce, Gerry Tully, Bill Slattery, Fiona Guiheen, Tommy Fitzsimons, Tara Ceili Band, Ronan McGuinness, Tony Brady, the RCCG Jesus House Navan Choir and Tommy Darby with a bonus track 'The Rooster". Tracks were contributed by Simon Fagan, Seana Davey harpist, Gerry Tully, Fiona Guiheen and Tommy Fitzsimons and all other tracks were engineered, compiled and mastered by David Powderly at Studio 22 in Dunderry. All the proceeds from the sale of the CD will help fund the St Patrick"s Day festival, and the committee is planning other events throughout the year.
