Making a splash

Trim"s new state-of-the-art Aura leisure centre and swimming pool opened its doors on Monday afternoon, as local swimmers lined up to be the first to use the brand new facilities. Aura is celebrating its first week of business this Saturday with a fun 'Open Day" including games, activities and free access to the gym and pool facilities for the afternoon. The open day is aimed at those people unable to find the time to visit the centre during the opening week and take part in the free fitness classes and at families who are looking for a good way to spend their Saturday afternoon. 'We have m2ade sure that the open day will be a great day out and that it has something for everyone. Families are particularly encouraged to visit us and discover how we can help to improve their health and fitness, while having fun at the same time,' said Aura eastern regional manager, Josephine Pepper. 'Parents can have a free swim in our 25-metre pool, while children are invited to use our kiddies" and learner pools, where they will be supervised at all times by our fully-qualified swim instructors. Older children, or anyone who is young at heart, will be able to take part in a number of games in our sports hall, including badminton or basketball, while there will also be games arranged outside on our two field turf soccer pitches,' she added. Ms Pepper said that hundreds of people have visited the leisure centre since it opened on Monday afternoon and she said people are clearly impressed with what they have seen. 'Whatever your age or fitness level, we have classes that will suit you. This is why we are inviting everyone to come down to the centre this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night to avail of our ongoing free classes which include everything from spinning to rebounding.' Aura"s gym and pool facilities will be available to the public free of charge this Saturday between 12 noon and 4pm.
