Sinead makes the Miss World 'semi"

Dunboyne beauty, Sinead Noonan, bowed out of the Miss World competition in South Africa at the weekend at the semi-final stages of the competition. Twenty one years-old Sinead, a former student of St Peter"s College in Dunboyne, didn"t make it to the final of the competition in South Africa, although she had proved very popular with judges, fellow competiors and the audience. The winner of the 58th Miss World title was Russian Kseniya Sukhinova, who was crowned after a two-hour spectacle in Johannesburg on Saturday night. Sinead won the Miss Ireland title in the pageant final at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Santry, Dublin, in June, beating 37 of the country"s most beautiful women to earn her chance to represent Ireland in the Miss World competition. Sinead, who moved to Dunboyne with her parents at the age of eight, has always been a big fan of beauty competitions and, by all accounts, enjoyed her trip to South Africa where, with the 109 other contestants, she competed in a series of competitions that included building a small boat, taking football penalty kicks and a talent show. The contest was to have taken place in Ukraine, but was moved to Johannesburg because of tensions between Russia and Georgia and fears that the conflict could spread to Ukraine. As Sinead returns to Ireland this week, she has a bright future ahead in the modelling industry. The Miss Ireland organisation has helped her to complete her modelling portfolio and she is now is being represented by the Compton Model Agency. Sinead has already landed a number of modelling jobs and is the face behind Lipsey"s Autumn/Winter 2008 collection.
