25 jobs to go at Geith International

Workers at the Geith International plant in Slane, who are currently on a four-day week, have been told by management that they are facing the loss of 25 jobs. Geith, founded in 1950, currently employs 110 in Slane and makes attachments for construction equipment. The SIPTU trade union is to hold a general meeting at the plant tomorrow (Thursday) to discuss the proposals. Management has sought compulsory redundancies, but the union is looking for voluntary redundancies, according to SIPTU branch secretary, John Regan. In addition to its facility in Slane, Geith has production, sales and service plants in Wales and the US, employing a total of 290 people.
