Major Kells medical centre on cards
A planning application is expected shortly from GPs in Kells for a major new medical centre on the town"s Navan Road, which offers the prospect of extra services, including consultants" offices. The multi-million euro investment is set to bring together most local doctors and its backers hope to locate the building near St Colmcille"s Cemetery and have it completed by mid-2010, when the M3 motorway is opened. The project has already received a warm welcome from local town councillors, who received a private outline of the project from its proponents late last month. Council cathaoirleach Brian Collins said the development offered the welcome prospect of extra services being provided in the town, sparing patients the difficulties of visiting distant hospitals and services. The proposed location was also very central and accessible, he added.
