Soccer adjustments required

Three teams have withdrawn from the Saturday Reserve Divisions of the Meath & District League ahead of the new season. Boyne Rovers from Premier A Reserve, Drogheda Crescent from Premier C Reserve, and a provisional grading in the Premier D Reserve for Bailie Youths did not meet the necessary requirements for affiliation. There are also some other clubs currently reviewing their participation at this level. The initial overall entry allowed for the merging of both sections of the 'A' Reserve to form one mainstream division as normal and at that time because of the amount of teams below this division, it meant an extra one was required 'D' Reserve. However because of the withdrawals, and the uncertainty of a few more teams, a review will now have to take place as there are not currently enough teams to justify the extra division. The likely outcome will see the 'C' Reserve split into two sections with the same end of season play-off criteria as last season's 'A' Reserve - top two in each section qualify for semi-final play-offs with the winners playing for a League title. Teams will be notified in the next few days of the necessary alterations to accommodate the new enforced arrangement. It is intended to split the teams into the two sections based on geographical location, if possible.
