Tailteann development goes to next phase

The redevelopment of Pairc Tailteann can now move on to the next phase it emerged this week.

The deadline for objections to the planning permission that was granted by Meath Co Council expired last week during the period when the county was in the depths of a snow storm.

With clearance now confirmed, the next phase of the development will involve putting the project out to tender and it is understood that the process will take until October to complete.

Part of the project involves the restoration of the floodlights to the venue and that will be a priority.

The total outlay (by the end of October next) is estimated at around €600,000 which includes approx €300,000 in preparing the overall plan and the balance in completing the tender process.

It is hoped that some preparatory work will commence around the end of November and early December and that is likely to start with some demolition.

The pitch will also be widened and lengthened and that process may leave the ground briefly out of commission for a number of weeks in 2019, but it is unlikely to impact on any NFL fixtures next year.
