Match held up because of injury as Simonstown and Kilbride win

Play is held up as Simonstown Gaels player Niall Kane received treatment for a leg injury.

The Simonstown Gaels v Blackhall Gaels SFC encounter at Dunshaughlin this evening was held up for a lengthy spell after Simonstown player Niall Kane picked up a leg injury.

Darkness was descending when the game finished after Kane received lenghty treatment before he was was stretchered off the pitch. He was eventually brought to hospital by ambulance however, it is understood the injury is not as serious as first feared. Kane and a Blackhall Gaels player clashed with eight minutes to go in the game.

Kane was one of Simonstown Gaels' most industrious performers as his team continued on their winning ways by defeating Blackhall Gaels 1-12 to 1-4. Blackhall now face a relegation play-off while Simonstown Gaels continue on their quest to retain the Keegan Cup.

In the curtain-raiser at Dunshaughlin today Kilbride booked their place in the Junior B FC final when they defeated Slane 1-10 to 0-12 in a very entertaining contest.
