Dowds successful appeal

Meath selector Kevin Dowd will be on the sideline for Saturday’s Christy Ring Cup clash with Wicklow in Trim (4pm) after his appeal against a four month ban was successful.
Dowd had been suspended by Leinster Council for four months arising out of an incident following the sending off of Wicklow’s Andy O’Brien during the Kehoe Cup final in February, but the Dunderry man appealed the suspension to higher authorities.
After failing to have his appeal overturned at Hearings Committee, Dowd brought his case to the Disputes Resolutions Authority (DRA) and they recommended that the case against the Meath selector be thrown out on the grounds of insufficient evidence.
