Tribute to staff and services at Our Lady's Hospital, Navan

Dear sir - Please allow me to express my appreciation of the care given to my late brother, Denis Donnelly, while he was a patient in Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, last year. At a time when there is so much criticism of our health services, Denis received excellent care while in the hospital. A great tribute is extended to the consultants, nursing and all the health staff in addition to the allied health services at the hospital and the ambulance personnel. The attention given to my brother when he took ill at his home while being conveyed to hospital by ambulance is very much appreciated. For a short period he was under the care of consultant Gerry McEntee in the Mater Hospital, whose attention deserves special mention. Despite the excellent care he received in both Navan Hospital and the Mater Hospital, Denis sadly died on 27th October last year. All his relatives and friends have remarked on the high standard of care afforded to him. It is important to record this note of appreciation on behalf of Denis' family, especially on hearing reports that certain acute services will be removed from Our Lady's Hospital to Drogheda. A Mass has been offered for all the hospital staff and ambulance personnel. The first anniversary Mass for Denis takes place on Sunday 1st November 2009 at 11am in Kilmessan. Yours, Marie Martin, Moattown, Kildalkey.
