Dunshaughlin village where the horror ordeal began for the driver of the Mercedes

Car jacking victim was carried on bonnet of car for over a kilometre

Gardaí are seeking witnesses following the unauthorised taking of a car and a assault on the driver in Dunshaughlin Village on Sunday evening 22 October 2017.  The victim had advertised his car for sale and arranged a meeting with a prospective buyer at the graveyard in Dunshaughlin opposite St Seachnall’s NS.

At about 6.20pm he pulled up beside the graveyard in white Mercedes C220 with a 142-D registration facing in the Dublin direction.  A red Toyota Auris car 05-D registration pulled in behind him and a man approached him from the passenger seat of this car.  This man assaulted the owner of the car and drove the Mercedes off in the Dublin direction.

The alleged culprit is described as being about 5.11”, with short black hair and sallow skin.  The victim stood in front of the red Toyota and attempted to prevent the female driver from leaving the scene. She is described as being aged in her 30s, heavy build with long brown hair.  The female driver of this car then drove towards the victim forcing him onto the bonnet of the vehicle. This female drove off at speed and came to a complete sudden stop on a number of occasions in an attempt to force the victim off the bonnet.

The victim eventually came off the car in the vicinity of the Esso Garage on the Dunshaughlin to Dublin Road. He received a number of minor injuries when he fell to the road. He was assisted by a passerby who stopped.The victim received minor injuries .The Toyota then followed the Mercedes in the Dublin direction.
 
It is believed that the woman had two children in the car at the time.  One of these children is believed to be about 7 years of age.

Earlier that evening between 4.30pm and 6.15pm number plates bearing 05-D were taken from a car parked at the The Old Forge housing estate, Dunshauglin a short distance away. 

Gardai are appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of the graveyard in Dunshaughlin shortly after 6pm on Sunday evening 22 October 2017 or on the Dublin Road who may have seen the  white Mercedes C220 or a red Toyota Auris car driving in the Dublin direction to contact Dunshauglin Garda Station on  01-8258600 or 01-8010600 or any Garda Station. 
 
Similarly, if anyone was in The Old Forge, Dunshaughlin area between 4.30pm and 6.15pm and noticed a red Toyota car with a man and woman and who may have been accompanied by two small children in the rear seat should get in contact with us.
