A tow truck operator was seriously injured in an accident on the M3 last night.

The man in his 40s is believed to have been hit by a truck.

He was removed by ambulance to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.

It is believed he had been recovering a car at Berrilstown, Dunshaughlin at around 11 o'clock last night, when he suffered serious injuries.

The motorway was closed for a number of hours to allow  forensic collision investigators examine the scene, but it has since reopened.
