Renewed appeal on cash-in-transit robbery

Gardai have renewed their appeal for information following a cash-in-transit robbery at the Topaz Service Station on the Proudstown Road, Navan, this day last week.

At approximately 11am, last Friday 28th April, RMS Security were performing a cash delivery and collection at the filling station. As the driver of the security van was entering the security van after performing his delivery and collection of cash, he was approached by a male who was wielding what appeared to be a metal bar.

This raider struck the security driver on the arm above the wrist and removed the money box from him before fleeing the scene in motor vehicle 06-D-4603, a black Ssangyong Rexton. This vehicle was subsequently found burned out a short time later in the St Mary's Park area of Navan.
According to Gardai, a beige coloured Mercedes, with possible registration 01 D 74339/74399, entered St Mary’s Park, Navan, at speed from the Slane Rd direction. This vehicle then drove to the right, around the green area in St Mary’s Park and reversed into an area where there is a break in the row of houses, directly beside where the black Ssangyong Rexton was burned out.

Moments later, the beige coloured Mercedes drove back out of the estate, again at speed and left the St Mary’s Park estate, again towards the Slane Rd. No direction of travel has been identified from this point to date.
The driver is described as a male in his mid to late 30’s, with tight dark hair, tall with a thin face wearing a white shirt and also possibly a tie.
