One child air lifted to hospital after crash on the R162

The Navan to Kingscourt road at Darby's Cross is closed to traffic following a serious accident there this afternoon. Local diversions are in place.

Two children and their mother suffered serious injuries when their vehicle was involved in a collision with an articulated truck at around 2pm.

One of the children was taken by air ambulance to Tallaght Hospital but the two children aged seven and two and a half are now being treated in Crumlin and Temple Street Hospitals. 

Their mother was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

It is believed the family are from the Nobber area.

 The road remains closed at this time. A Forensic Collision Investigation Team are currently examining the scene. It is anticipated that the road will reopen around 7pm. Any witnesses to this collision should contact Navan Garda Station on 046-9079930.
