Death of fr sean fay of rathmolyon

The funeral takes place in Rathmolyon on Friday of the retired parish priest, Fr Sean Fay, who died on Monday morning, 16th March. Fr Sean Fay was a native of Collinstown parish and was ordained in St Patrick’s College, Maynooth in 1958. He served in Mullingar for a short time before he went on loan to Castlecomer in Ossory diocese. In 1959 he was appointed to the staff of St Finian’s College and became president of the college in May 1980.
Fr Fay was appointed parish priest of Rathmolyon-Enfield in August 1986. He retired in September 2006 and remained active in the parish until 2012.
Predeceased by his parents Michael and Frances and his brother Mikeo, he is survived by his sisters Olive (Carey), Sr Maura (Athlone), sister-in-law Mary (Delvin), cousins, nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and nieces, devoted housekeeper May, parishioners of Rathmolyon and Enfield and his large circle of relatives and friends.
He is reposing at the Parochial House, Rathmolyon on Wednesday from 6pm to 9pm and on Thursday from 4pm to 6.30pm with removal to St Michael’s Church, Rathmolyon arriving at 7pm. (Church will remain open until 10pm). The Funeral Mass is on Friday at 11am followed by burial in Kill Cemetery.
