Over 1 million paid in property tax today

The Revenue Commissioners received in excess of €1m in LPT payments today and over 30,000 calls to the LPT helpline.  Some 130,000 Local Property Tax (LPT) compliance letters issued last week in respect of unpaid 2013, 2014 and 2015 LPT, as well Household Charge arrears.

The majority of calls relate to property owners who paid their 2014 LPT but have not either paid or made arrangements to pay their 2015 LPT. The quickest and easiest way to make arrangements to pay LPT is online at www.revenue.ie using the property ID and PIN. If a property owner chooses the Single Debit Authority option, the payment won’t be deducted until 21st March 2015, unless an earlier date is specified. Alternatively, the property owner can spread the LPT liability over the remainder of the year by selecting deduction at source from salary/pension or direct debit from a current account.

Due to the unprecedented level of calls, some callers may not be able to get through to the LPT helpline. As an alternative, property owners can email Revenue at lpt@revenue.ie.
