Duleek Players present murder comedy in Drogheda

Duleek Players are staging the comedy, Murder at Priorswell Manor, at the Droichead Arts Centre to Saturday 12th March.

Set in the world of theatre this is a tale full of black humour and with more twists than a corkscrew.

'This is a murder mystery that manages to combine a great air of suspense with a wickedly funny dialogue ' said director Michael Ferguson.

'It is a 'whodunnit' with more red herrings in the plot than can be found in the fishing boats off Clogherhead and the audience is guaranteed a brilliant night's entertainment.'

Renowned for their top class productions and participation in all Ireland Drama Festivals, Murder at Priorwell Manor, stars some of the Duleek group's best established players.

Playing the leading role of Lady Dorothy Cholmondley is Betty Clinton, with Guy Lynch as the pompous Major Rodney Pirbright and doing a brilliant comic turn as eccentric Greek Mr Papadopoulos, is Con McGinley.

Director Michael is set for a particularly busy run as he will also be on stage playing Boris Smolensky, one of the leading characters in the murderous farce.

The Duleek Drama Players are using their dramatic endeavours to support several local and national charities. Tickets for the play are €15 each and Tuesday night's performance is in aid of the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind, Wednesday night will benefit the Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre, while Thursday's performance will support the work of the Niall Mellon Educate fund.

It will be a busy year for the local drama buffs who are already planning their next dramatic outing.

'We have been invited by the local The Spire restaurant in Duleek to stage a murder on the premises,' Michael explained.

'The plan is to mix our actors among the dining audience and along with enjoying some marvellous cuisine, diners will be invited to solve a murder mystery or risk that they too will become the next murder victims.

'It promises to be great fun and we will be announcing the dates in the coming months.

'But in the meantime we are all really looking forward to appearing at the Droichead and creating some hilarious mayhem in Murder at Priorswell Manor.'
