Trim Celtic's hopes of glory blown away

As Storm Ciara swept  in over the country today Trim Celtic's hopes of advancing to the last eight of the Leinster Junior Cup blown off course when they lost 1-2 to Bluebell Utd at Tully Park.

Playing against the wind in the opening half the Hoops were on the backfoot for long spells and they were somewhat fortunate to go in at the break with only a 0-2 deficit.

They got the perfect boost early in the second-half when they pulled a goal back with Brian Faulkner shooting to the net from distance however they were unable to add to their account despite having the elements at their back.

This was Trim Celtic's first game back in Tully Park in months and the pitch looked in fine condition with Robblie Connell and Brian McCreary involved in ensuring it was in tip-top condition.

However, the Dublin side - who scored early from a Thomas Bermingham penalty after just four minutes and a Leon Heffernan corner, the wind-assisted ball ending up in the far corner of the net - were not to be denied their ticket to the next round.

Trim Celtic created a number of chances with Jack O'Keeffe, Colm Carney and Faulkner all going close but they were unable to find that extra goal that would have forced extra-time. Insteady Alan Murphy's side went tumbling out of the competition and must now look to prepare for the new NEFL season.
