Disappointment for NECSL as they lose out

There was disappointment for NECSL when they were defeated 0-2 by Cavan/Monaghan in the u-16 Inter-League Plate semi-final at the MDL today. 

The concession of two first-half goals gave the NECSL a huge mountain to climb and while they improved their performance considerably in the second-half they were unable to catch their opponents. 

Finon Carolan grabbed the opener for Cavan/Monaghan from a corner kick with Stephen O'Rourke hitting a second on the 19th minute mark. 

NECSL manager Donal Dunne made a number of changes to his line up and the home side ended up dominating most of the second-half however, they were unable to make the breakthrough. 

They did come close one or twice with Dean Markey-Darcy and goalkeeper Glen Prendergast firing just over one from play, one from a free kick.

Afterwards the NECSL manager spoke about the need to up coaching standards in the NECSL to compete with the top leagues.
