Hoops turn on the style to overcome the 'Well

Producing plenty of swift-moving attacking football Trim Celtic defeated nine-man Newfoundwell 3-0 in the NEFL Challenge Cup semi-final at Drogheda today.

It was a day to forget all around for the 'Well as they finished the game with just nine men after Paddy O'Boyle and Brandon Sullivan were both sent off in the second-half.

Trim Celtic were impressive when it came to moving the ball around and create chances and they deservedly took the lead after just 15 minutes when Colm Carney turned the ball into the net after just 15 minutes.

Alan Murphy's side created plenty of opportunities but they didn't take them and at the break it stayed 1-0.

Newfoundwell also created their share of chances and striker Shaun Brown looked destined to score just before half-time but he slipped at the crucial moment and the chance was gone.  Early in the second-half Trim Celtic oalkeeper Aaron Ryan had to be sharp to save from Newfoundwell striker Ian Devine.

O'Boyle was sent off after 51 minutes and Trim Celtic took advantage with Aaron Williams knocking the ball to the net. Then the 'Well had their second players dismissed and it was all lost for them.

In the 92nd minute another fine sweeping move from the Hoops ended in Anto Burke hitting the target to seal the win - and a place in the final.
