OMP v TORRO - who will win?

JUSTIN BURKE preview's tonight's (Friday 2nd November - 8pm) NEFL Division One  OMP United v Torro United at the MDL grounds - Navan

This fixture is as big as they can get as both sides aim for promotion from the O'Neills Sportswear Division One.

They didn't meet last season in this division as OMP united were a Premier side back then, but their quest for an immediate return to the topflight remains their main focus under David Doyle.

Torro United sit in sixth place, three places behind OMP but a game in hand will see them a point behind with that extra game to play it means this fixture is a big six point match for both teams.

OMP United come into the clash at the MDL grounds with a 4 - 0 win against Hazel Lane in the division but with a cup defeat at the hands of Trim Celtic last Sunday, going down 2-3 after extra time which isn't too bad against their Premier rivals.

John Powell's Torro United side are building up a bit of form at the right end of the season, hammering Electro Celtic 11 - 0 in the Kilmessan shield followed by a 3 - 0 win over Hazel Lane in division one.

OMP will await a late fitness test on striker Donal Callan after he sustained a slight knock last week against Trim Celtic while they will be without Rob Coombes who is suspended following his red card last weekend.

Torro can boast for the first time this season a full squad available for this fixture. Colm Gilsenan bolstering the squad with his return to the team.

Key players for OMP will be the strike force of Ryan Murphy and Donal Callan, Josh Gaffney has impressed at left back and goalkeeper Jack Walsh is playing well while the experience of Joe Garvey, Paul Cunningham & veteran Shaun Doyle will be needed to keep their promotion plan on course.

Torro's key players as always will be goal machines Andy Tolan & Peader Farrelly who have formed a beautiful partnership this season while the addition of Louis Timmons has given them an extra edge knowing he can score plenty of goals too.

Speaking to OMP United manager David Doyle this week he said this is a massive game for the club.

"Torro United are hard to beat and will be well organised on the night. We've done ok so far with just one defeat but the two draws didn't help us and we need to win all our remaining games to gain promotion."

Torro United manager John Powell said - "It will be very tight match between two good sides, we will be going for the win and it could go either way with one team edging it by the odd goal or a possible draw."

He also added that it could be the most attacking game of the season as both sides need the win so it might be end to end game.

Prediction - Hard to call this match as both know a win is needed, both sides will leave nothing in the dressing room so might a busy night for the match referee.. Could end up a draw here ..
