Rogers pens new deal with Dundalk

Bohermeen man Gary Rogers has penned a new deal with Dundalk that will keep him at Oriel Park for next season.

The 37-year-old Meath man joined the Lilywhites from Sligo Rovers in 2014 and has been at the heart of a golden period for the club, winning two Premier Division titles, the FAI Cup and an EA Sports Cup.

Rogers will win his third Premier Division title tonight if Dundalk can claim at least a point from their clash with St Patrick's Athletic at Oriel Park, which is live on RTE 2 from 7.30pm.

The Lilywhites opened up a 12-point gap with just four games remaining.

Due to RTE2's coverage of the fixture, Shamrock Rovers v Cork City will be moved to a 7.45pm kick-off. This is to facilitate a live feed of the Tallaght Stadium match which can be used in the transmission.

Rogers has been in fine form this season, keeping 28 clean sheets and helping the side to the brink of the league title and another FAI Cup final where they will face the winners of the semi-final replay between Cork City and Bohemians which is on Monday night in Cork, also in RTE 2.

"I am delighted to get the deal done," he told the club's website.

"I have been here four years now and it has been great. I am delighted to be staying on again.

"All in all I am very happy. It was an easy decision to stay. The way things have been going here it has been great and you’d be hopeful that will continue.

"We are in a good place at the moment. We have a Cup final to look forward to. I’d fancy us to get a point from our last four games. It is within reach now the title."
