Castle Villa and Fordrew the focus this weekend

The Friday night featured game this weekend is the NEFL Div 4 game between Castle Villa and Fordrew Rovers in Moynalty.

JUSTIN BURKE'S VIEW

These sides met three times last season, Fordrew Rovers enjoying a whopping 8-0 victory in the  O'Neill Shield, but Castle Villa gained revenge in the league edging out a five-goal thriller by the odd score.

Fordrew Rovers did win the home league encounter 7-0 so this tie produced 20 goals last term so hopefully we will have plenty of goals Friday.

Castle Villa are sitting at the bottom of the table having lost to the top three in the division, Bohermeen Celtic, Millmount Celtic and  BMC while a home loss to Chord Celtic and a thumping by Electro Celtic away leaves them with no points in the group so far, only three goals scored and 22 conceded.

Fordrew Rovers lost to  Millmount Celtic in the opening game, but beat league leaders Bohermeen Celtic and Lourdes Celtic in their next two games to put them in a good position.

They have lost the last three games against Slane Wanderers, Electro Celtic and BMC last week to leave them on six points, scoring 10 goals in the process and conceding 16.

Both sides have no players suspended for this fixture and have no injury worries other than waiting on calls to see if players have got off work for the game.

Castle Villa will rely on their main goal scorers Richie Mullen and Jamie Fitzgerald who have two goals each this season in all competitions.

Fordrew Rovers can thank Conor Lynch (19) for a portion of their goal tally as the young striker is enjoying his first season with the club.

Castle Villa manager Jason Clarke wasted no time bringing in new players for the half season, adding Neil Simmons, Janis Zemilis, Richie Mullen to the squad as well as promoting youth players Luke Mulholland, Daragh Gibbons, Calvin Doherty and Barry Collins.

Fordrew Rovers manager Paul Clarke has brought in some quality to his side with the re-signing of Harry Newman who can turn on the style when needed and has only been back for two games but has two goals. He also added Daniel Galligan and Conor Lynch to the team.

Key players to watch out for will be for Castle Villa's Richie Mullen, Jamie Fitzgerald, Janis Zemilis and captain Ray Kelly. Key players for Fordrew will be Conor Lynch, Daniel Galligan and Mark Browne in defence.

Speaking with Castle Villa manager Jason Clarke this week he explained that his side have been improving every week, working hard in training with great numbers and is fully confident of getting a good result against Fordrew, saying it will be tight match so a draw or possible home win.

Fordrew Rovers manager Paul Clarke said that these games are always tricky, on paper you would expect to win and maybe they should but it is always a good game of football between both sides.

Prediction - Giving that the Villians haven't been scoring goals in this campaign, and their opposition are you would expect Fordrew to win with ease.
