Rogers hits winner as Parkvilla prevail

Friday night football returned to Claremont Stadium this evening with Parkvilla defeating Kentstown Rovers 1-0 in an uncompromising NEFL Div 1 clash.

The only goal of the game was scored by Parkvilla's Ciaran Rogers when got to the end of a superb through ball just after the interval.

The game was a tough contest played under the Claremont Stadium lights. It was also the first time Parkvilla performed in an NEFL game at their home ground having played their previous two outings since their return to the local league away from home.

Derek Coogan's side enjoyed plenty of possession in the opening half without managing to find the target but they finally made the breakthrough when Rogers finished well from close range.

Stephen Laverty's Kentstown never give up the fight and over the course of the evening they too had their chances with the best falling to Matthew Pouch just before the interval but he directed his shot narrowly wide.

Rogers also had an effort rebound off the bar before he was substituted late on while Kentstown's Marc Horrigan had a header cleared from the danger zone as his team pressed for a late equaliser.
