Action from Navan v Naas today.

Relegation now a real prospect for Navan

Just when they needed to produce a big performance Navan slumped to a 10-19 defeat to Naas in the AIL Div 1B at Balreask Old today.

Bottom of the table and badly needing a victory Navan really got going in this game. They suffered from a series of unforced errors - and only managed to put a better reflection on the scoreboard with the help of a last-minute penalty try.

It was already clear at the interval that Navan were facing a steep challenge when trailed 0-12 at the interval with tries from Benjamin Swindlehurst and Matthew Stapleton with Peter Osborne converting one of those tries.

Navan eventually got on the scoreboard in the second-half when Collie O'Reilly slotted over from a long-range penalty but the home side struggled to add to their account. However Naas hit back with a third try from Osborne which he also converted to put the Kildare side back in a commanding position.

Ray Moloney's team did exert sustained pressure near the Naas tryline but were unable to make the breakthrough - until they were awarded a late penalty try.

O'Reilly, Eoin King, Riaan van der Vyver, Conor Ryan were among those to put in big performances for Navan.
