Mickey Newman was kind words for fellow Meath GAA men

VIDEO: Mickey Newman pays tribute to fellow clubman Declan Black and the late Johnny Henry

Mickey Newman took time out from celebrating promotion to Division 1 to pay tribute to two great GAA men minutes after he had helped Meath to victory over Fermanagh today at Pairc Tailteann.

The Meath full-forward extended best wishes to fellow Kilmainham clubman Declan Black who is battling illness and Johnny Henry of Cortown who passed away recently.

Johnny would also have been delighted with Meath's success in booking a place back to Div 1 of the NFL which they did in fine style overcoming Fermanagh on a 2-12 to 0-11 scoreline.

"I just want to wish Declan all the best, I know he's been very sick lately and he's a great Kilmainham club man and I know this will mean a lot to him and also to say Lord of mercy on him Johnny Henry, a great Cortown man and a great friend to our family. This would have been a very proud moment for him had he been here to see this today."

Newman expressed himself delight with the achievement with Meath now left to face Donegal in a Div 2 final at Croke Park.
