Tolan brace helps steer Torro to victory in Kilmessan Shield clash

Torro United 4 - 1 Oldcastle United 

Torro made hard work of this Kilmessan Shield encounter with Oldcastle United before eventually seen them off with a four one win at Hugh Powderly Park. 

Torro took twenty five minutes to finally break the defence of their opposition, Oldcastle failing to clear the ball in the box, defender Michael Morris slipped and handled the ball to give away an easy penalty which Andy Tolan made no mistake from when outsmarting keeper Jack Fox. 

 

Five minutes later Oldcastle equalised with their first shot on target, Cormac Fagan swinging in a free after Ignas Romanas was fouled on the edge of the box and Aron Kiernan snuck in from the back to send a guided header into the far corner of the net past Daniel Shields. 

Just before the halftime interval Torro were awarded another penalty as Kiernan miskicked the ball and Tolan chased it down only for Kiernan to bring him down in the box, This time it was the young Jack Fox in goal who outsmarted his opposite player as he saved Tolan's penalty diving to his right. 

Ten minutes into the second half Torro regained the lead when newly introduced substitute Louis Timmons headed home a corner kick from Evan Bird which Jack Fox saved and but Timmons reacted quickest when smashing home a right foot shot two yards out. 

Oldcastle United keeper Jack Fox was on form trying to keep the score down from Torro's attack but couldn't stop them going three one up as Tolan raced onto a Bird pass and steadied himself before shooting a right foot shot into the far right bottom corner of Oldcastle's net. 

Torro finally put this match to bed with six minutes remaining when Peader Farrelly struck a right foot shot towards goal which deflected off an Oldcastle defender before the ball finding the back of Fox's net. Oldcastle could feel hard done by as it appeared to hit the hand of two Torro players in the build up to the goal.
