Trim show impressive form to seal final spot

Playing some very attractive football Trim put in a powerful performance to get the better of Oldcastle 2-12 to 0-9 in this IFC semi-final at Pairc Tailteann today.

Fancied by many to win this game Oldcastle rarely got going against a Trim side who took a grip of proceedings from the start and powered their way to victory.

Aaron Lynch led the way for Brendan Murphy's side in terms of scores notching up 1-7 the promising young attacker making light of the slippery conditions to put in a big performance.

It was looking comfortable for Trim at the interval when they led 1-8 to 0-2 after a tour de force performance in the opening half. That first-half goal arrived on 26 minutes when Lynch's shot from distance was touched to the net by Brian Dowling.

Oldcastle did enjoy a good spell for the first 14 minutes of the second-half with Robbie Farrelly and Colin Howdon firing over a series of points to reduce the deficit to 1-10 to 0-8. Then Trim struck with their second goal with Lynch finishly confidently from close range.

At 2-10 to 0-8 there was no way back for a lacklustre Oldcastle outfit who never fired. Trim instead push on to face Nobber in the IFC final.
