Barry all set for big Sky match

Duleek dart player Keane Barry will be looking to land the Tim Kirby Memorial Irish Matchplay Championship title when he takes on Galway's Liam Gallagher in the City West Convention Centre this evening with the contest to be screened live on Sky Sports at around 7.45pm. 

As well as the honour that goes with winning the title the winner will also earn a place at the PDC World Championships in the famous Alexander Palace in London. 

Keane (17) is already due to compete at the famous venue as he has made the World Youth Championships decider on Saturday 21st December. "Hopefully I will be going there twice," Barry told  the Meath Chronicle this morning. 

He has also claimed a number of Irish titles this year including the Youths Irish Masters and he's the Youths National Singles champion as well. He also claimd success at youth level in the international open in Gibraltar. Keane also enjoyed the perfect boost in advance of that final when recently winning the Northern Ireland Matchplay title in Newry. 

The richly talented Duleek youngster beat Alan Edwards in the last 32, Dave Evans in the last 16, Scott Taylor in the last 8 , Mike Warburton in the semi-final with a 91 average and in the final with Paul Hogan, he managed a 6-2 triumph with a 93 average. He hit a 124 to win the title. This was Keane's first ever men's BDO title.
