Darragh Rennicks

Magnificent seven for Rennicks as Moran claims first title

There was a magnificent seventh Meath Senior men's title achieved by Bohermeen's Darragh Rennicks with Shauna Moran from Dunshaughlin AC claiming her first ladies crown at the Meath AAI Cross-Country Championships at Dunboyne today.

Rennicks was in excellent form as he chalked up a comfortable victory to claim his seventh title.

He was followed home by two Dunboyne athletes, Rory Kavanagh, who was second and Loughlin Campion who took the bronze medal position.

The sun was shining all morning at the Cow Park in Dunboyne and while the going was heavy in places overall conditions were reasonable with the athletles also having to grapple with a stiff breeze.

Moran who has been second and third in the senior women's race in previous years found her best form today to summon up a very impressive performance and win in style.

She was followed home by Dunboyne AC's Eva McNelis with another Dunboyne AC runner, Emila Dan securing third place. Only the previous week Dan put in a fine display to win the women's event in the Meath Masters Cross-Country Championships in Trim.

In Dunboyne today there were also a series of under-age races run off as part of Meath Juvenile League but for Rennicks and Moran it was a day to remember.
