Cyclists face the Blackwater cyclocross challenge

Those who enjoy a challenge have an opportunity to take one on this Sunday, 2nd December when the Navan Road Club hosts a cyclocross event in Blackwater Park, Navan.

In October the club also hosted a well-attended cyclocross challenge at the same venue and once again on Sunday there are expected to be riders from various parts of the country competiting.

Cyclocross challenges cyclists to ride their bikes on a grass course overcoming a number of obstacles along the way including a series of bumps and the dreaded 'Wall' which is a sudden, steep decline that test a riders skill and nerve.

Cyclocross is a very popular sport in countries like Holland and Belgium and appears to be growing in popularity in Ireland also.

Racing on Sunday starts at Blackwater Park at 10am with the u-10s and u-12s. At 11am the ladies as well as the u-14s and u-16s events are scheduled to get underway while at noon the A race will start followed by the B event at 1.30am.

Registration is online only at www.myrunresults.com.
