Navan RFC Travel well!

After a good start to the AIL Div 2A Navan RFC will host Blackrock College in a third round tie at Balreask Old on Saturday, 2.30pm

Navan's bright start to life in AIL Div 2A continued last Saturday as they coasted to victory over hosts Dolphin at Musgrave Park to make it two wins from two.

Dolphin opened the scoring with a successful penalty after seven minutes, but that lead lasted less than five minutes as the Cork men lost a player to the sin-bin and Brian Haugh took advantage to restore parity from a penalty.

Paddy Fox crossed to give Navan a lead, but the conversion was missed and with Colm O'Reilly sent to the sin-bin Navan had to absorb a lot of Dolphin pressure. However it was Navan who capitalised with Haugh converting a huge penalty to ensure a 11-3 interval lead.

Within 10 minutes of the restart Sean McEntaggart crashed over for Navan's second try following great work by Riaan van der Vyver, but Haugh missed the conversion as the Meath side opened up a 16-3 lead.

Under severe pressure Dolphin lost another man to a sin-bin and after five quick phases off a lineout Conor Hand touched down under the posts and Haugh added the extras to stretch Navan's lead to 23-3 with 25 minutes remaining.

Dolphin did enjoy a spell of pressure inside the Navan 22, but the visitors defence stood strong and held on comfortably to secure their second win.
