Trainer Noel Meade was in double form today at Down Royal

Down Royal double for Noel Meade

Castletown trainer Noel Meade was in Down Royal today and was rewarded with a double on the card where Gavin Cromwell was also on the mark.

Valdieu completed the double for Meade in the bumper with Mark O'Hare on board and Meade also won the first race.

"We always thought he was a very good horse, he just kept bumping into good ones," stated Meade about Valdieu.

He  won the opener with Getaway Kid and Sean Flanagan was on board that one for a winning debut over fences in the beginners' chase.

Ardcath jockey Ger Fox kept up his good strike-rate when landing a handicap chase with the Cromwell-trained  Allduckornodinner which made all the running and won by over three lenghts.

For trainer Cromwell, there is the chance tomorrow to win the Welsh Grand National at Chepstow for the second time this year with Raz De Maree - won it in January (rescheduled from December 2017).
