Jack Regan

Meath Sports Awards - Happy Jack on the trophy trail again

Even though they missed out on a sixth successive Jubilee Cup in 2019 Kiltale Hurling Club will have plenty of reason to celebrate at Knightsbrook Hotel Trim on Friday night when their talismatic marksman Jack Regan will pick up the Outstanding Achievement Award (male) following a vote by the readers of the Meath Chronicle.

To win an Outstanding Achievement Award in a team game is an indication of just how vital and exceptional Kiltale's Jack Regan was to Meath's victory in the Christy Ring Cup.
Despite being just 24 years old Regan is already an established player on the Meath senior hurling team and with six Jubilee Cup medals and a plethora of medals at under-age level.
However in 2019 Regan's exceptional ability was recognised on the national stage when he picked up the Christy Ring Cup Player of the Year accolade and was named on the Champions 15, team recognising the best players in the Ring Cup, the Nicky Rackard Cup and the Lory Meagher Cup.
Regan scored nine points in the 4-19 to 2-15 Ring Cup final victory over Down at Croke Park and it was his consistency and excellence throughout the campaign that mark the Kiltale man as Meath top player.
Regan scored 12 points in the opening round win over London and followed that with 16 points in the demolition of Kildare in round two. The Kiltale man hit 13 points in the third round victory over Roscommon before adding a remarkable 1-14 in the semi-final victory over Derry.
To score 1-64 in five games is a testament to just how influential Jack Regan was to Meath's successful run to glory in the Christy Ring Cup.
