Navan O'Mahonys Aoibheann Leahy holds off Kilcock's Emma Maguire

O'Mahonys claim provincial crown

Trailing by a point with 16 minutes remaining Navan O'Mahonys were gifted a lifeline when Kilcock were reduced to 14 players and they took full advantage to kick on and claim the Ladies Leinster JFC crown at Kinnegad on Sunday.
O'Mahonys started well and bagged an early goal from the excellent Aoibheann Leahy, but Kilcock quickly assumed control and raced into a 2-2 to 1-1 lead before O'Mahonys rallied again with Megan Collins' goal helping to restore parity at the break, 2-3 each.
After the resumption Kilcock impressed as they edged into a 2-7 to 2-6 lead, but then they lost Laura Gibbons following a high tackle on Ailbhe Leahy and O'Mahonys exploited the extra space in attack superbly with Collins bagging her second goal and the Leahy sisters excelling as the Meath champions claimed the provincial honours.
O'Mahonys will now travel to face Cork and Munster winner Donoughmore in the All-Ireland JFC semi-final next Sunday.
