Clann na nGael shock Ballivor as Kilbride also progress to a final

There was delight for both Clann na nGael and Kilbride at Trim today as they advanced to respective football finals and stayed on course for silverware.

In the JFC semi-final Clann na nGael ambushed a highly fancied Ballivor side winning by 1-9 to 0-9.

The all important goal was scored in the 27th minute when Clann na nGael put together a passing move that originated deep in their own half and ended with Diarmuid O Donnchadha firing to the net.

At the break Clann na nGael led 1-5 to 0-5 and while they were under sustained pressure in the second-half their defensive systems held firm and they secured victory. It's a victory that not only secures them a place in the JFC final but a place in the intermediate ranks next year.

Phillip Garry was also a big influence for Tom Hanley's Clann na nGael side with four points while Darragh Griffin, Cian Swain and Paul Tuite were others to contribute sccores.

Brendan McKeon topscored for Ballivor with five points but they were unable to get the goal they so badly needed.

In the first match at Trim today Kilbride recovered from a slow start to defeat Boardsmill 2-14 to 1-6 in the Junior B FC semi-final with the help of goals from John Bruton and Brian Dignam,
