Trim and Ratoath advance from Simonstown showdowns

It was close, it was tense but in the end Trim just about held off a late flourish by Duleek/Bellewstow and record a 0-16 to 0-15 victory in the IFC quarter-final at Simonstown this evening.

In the Junior B FC quarter-final that preceded the IFC game Trim  were defeated 1-7 to 1-11 by Ratoath. However Trim weren't too happy afterwards saying there was no shower facilities for their players.

The intermediate tie proved to be a engaging, entertaining contest with Trim looking good at half-time when they led 0-10 to 0-6 however Duleek/Bellewstown hit back to  lead by one after 52 minutes.  In the tense closing stages Trim found that little bit extra to push on and win much to their delight

Aaron Lynch finished up as Trim's main marksman with 10 points, seven frees while James Toher (two), Alan Douglas (two), Brian Dowling and Sean Fitzgerald were others to contribute.

Duleek/Bellewstown had a spread of seven scorers with Mark Collins bagging the most points for them with five, two frees.  Duleek/Bellewstown made a bright start but Trim came back to win.

In the Junior B FC also at Simonstown Ratoath overcame Trim 1-11 to 1-7 with Peter Farrell finding the net for the team in red. Sean Johnson also found the net for Ratoath but they couldn't build on a bright start.

The game was marked by a punch up at half-time.
