Meath at odds of 100/1 for 2020 All-Ireland

Meath footballers make it into the top 12 contenders for All-Ireland success in 2020 according to BoyleSports in the wake of Dublin's five-in-a-row achievement at Croke Park yesterday.

However, with Meath available at 100/1 it's not likely, according to BoyleSports, that the Royal County with Andy McEntee in charge again has a realistic chance of success in the 2020 All-Ireland SFC.

According to BoyleSports Dublin were 'backed off the boards' to make it six All-Ireland titles on the trot next season after their drive for five ended in success at Croke Park on Saturday evening.

Kerry weathered an early Dublin onslaught and went in level at half-time, but the first score of the second-half saw Eoin Murchan, a man
with strong Meath connections, fire to the net to send Dublin on their way to a 1-18 to 0-15 victory.

"It hasn’t taken long for Dublin's 2020 odds to be snapped up, with BoyleSports already cutting their chances of six-in-a-row into 4/6 from 10/11," stated  Lawrence Lyons of BoyleSports.

"Beaten finalists Kerry are the most likely fly in the ointment to Jim Gavin’s side extending their run next year at 11/4, which is half the price they started this season in their bid to wrestle Sam Maguire back from the capital.

“We were seeing money for six-in-a-row before the fifth one was even in the bag and it didn’t take long after the final whistle for the money to start piling in again.

"We have no choice but to make it odds-on at 4/6 but that is still being hammered and the question is when this run is going to stop,” he added.

Meath could welcome Dublin to Pairc Tailteann for the opening game of the 2020 NFL Div 1 next January, but that will not be known until the fixture list is finalised for the 2020 NFL as the Royal County return to the top flight after gaining promotion this year along with Donegal.

The Donegal men, who struggled to Meath this year in the NFL Div 2 final and the Super 8s are listed at 12/1 while Mayo can be backed at 28/1.
