Meath ladies survive late Wicklow rally

Meath held on for a Ladies NFL Div 3 win by 1-18 to 3-6 against Wicklow at Pairc Tailteann today.

The 'holding on' element was totally self-inflicted as Meath were ahead by 1-17 to 0-6 in the closing stages, but a series of substitutions appeared to disrupt the rhythm and Wicklow rallied with a three-goal salvo.

Apart from that late scare, this was a good display by Meath as Vikki Wall returned to action follwing a knee injury she sustained in the win against Offaly in early February.

Today she also earned a rest late in the opening half when she was sent to the siinbin.

Meath were ahead by 1-6 to 0-4 at the interval with Kelsey Nesbitt firing to the net.

The points were scored by Emma Duggan (three), Vikki Wall (two) and Megan Thynne.

Wicklow stayed in touch with points from Sarah Delahunt (two), Jackie Lynch and Clodagh Fox.

Meath added second-half points from Stacey Grimes (six), Duggan (two), Kelsey Nesbitt, Shauna Ennis, Bidgetta Lynch and Aoibheann Leahy.
