Meath's Fionn Ferguson looks to get a shot away against London.

Royals withstand London rally

London came calling to Trim today but it was the home team who chalked up a 3-16 to 3-10 victory in the NHL Div 2A.

Fionn Ferguson scored two goals for the home side while Eamonn O Donnchadha also found the target as Meath chalked up a victory that should go a long way to securing their place in the division.

After the disappointment of losing out to Antrim with a last-gasp point two weeks ago Meath made sure of victory this time although they had to withstand a late surge from London who finished with 14 men after Aaron Sheehan was sent off early in the second-half.

The breeze-assisted home side led 2-13 to 0-5 at the interval and looked like they might push on to a big win but London got some wind in their sails with Mark O'Dwyer scoring two goals while Colin Nelson also found the target.

Padraig O'Hanrahan was also prominent for Meath on the scoring front with six points although all his scores came in the opening half as the home side spent much of the second-half defending. Shane McGann also played his part with a number of outstanding saves for Meath.

Jack Regan (four), Alan Douglas (three), James, Kelly, Ferguson and O Donnchadha also pointed for the winners.
