Loreto edged out after extra-time

Loreto Navan lost out to Scoil Chroist Ri Portlaoise by 2-13 to 5-9 after extra-time in a thrilling Ladies Post-Primary Schools Junior A FC final in Kinnegad this afternoon.
The Navan girls looked set to retain their title when they led deep into injury-time at the end of the regulation hour, but after defending superbly for the entire fourth quarter they eventually conceded a late leveller and were forced to extra-time, 2-8 each.
In the additional period Loreto retook the lead, but in the sixth minute of extra-time Scoil Chroist Ri hit the front for the first time with an excellent goal from a tight angle.
After the break in extra-time the Portlaoise side struck for two more goals to leave Loreto with a mountain to climb, and despite kicking three of the last four points the Navan side were edged out.
