Stars shine as money is raised at charity game

There was plenty of laughter and fun - as well as some excellent football - at Simonstown GAA club this evening as the annual Meath Ladies All-Star Charity Exhibition game took place with just over €2,500 generated.

The money which included gate receipts, as well as the auction of jerseys, will go towards the Sean Cox Fund.

A crowd of around 300 people were served up some excellent football too as the Meath Green Stars took on the Meath Royal Stars in the charity game that was held for the second year.

The Royal Stars ended up winning by 3-15 to 2-8 with sharpshooter Kelsey Nesbitt netting twice while Stacey Grimes also found the target

Sam Bennett and Orla Byrne broke through to grab goals for the Green Stars who trailed 1-3 to 2-8 at the break but who never stopped battling in what was a very high tempo game.

Some well known celebrities were brought in to make up the management teams with Eamon Murray, Kevin Foley and Mandy Shipp looking after the Royal Stars while the Green Stars were managed by Colm O'Rourke, Darragh Maloney and Gillian Bennett.
