Ratoath win All-Ireland Junior B camogie title

Ratoath won the All-Ireland Junior B Camogie title today at Pairc Tailteann with a merited 1-12 to 0-3 victory against Clontibret.

Monaghan senior champions Clontibret gave a spirited performance against Meath's intermediate champions in the Navan curtainraiser. 

However, Ratoath were too strong for a gutsy and determined Clontibret side that lacked nothing in terms of determination

Ratoath were on the front foot from the off and established a 1-9 to 0-2 interval advantage.

Sinead Beagan opened Ratoath's account from a first minute pointed free and took her tally for the half to six when she closed the scoring in added time.

RATOATH PLAYERS CELEBRATE

The crucial score for Ratoath was a rather fortunate goal from Aine McNerney from a lofted centre that Clontibret custodian Michelle Morgan misjudged.

Fiona McNerney (two) and Aine McNerney added the extra points while Clontibret got more into the game in the second-quarter and had points from Chloe McGuigan and Marie Greenan (free), but the Monaghan women were unlucky not find the net also.

Greenan's effort was scrambled clear by a relieved Ratoath rearguard and Clontibret also lost wing-back Orlaith Boyle to a 14th minute injury.

The second-half was fiercely contested with Clontibret making a brace bid to get into the game. 

Greenan's pointed free gave them an early boost, but they lost Chloe McGuigan to injury and that didn't help their cause.

Ratoath stood strong and after absorbing a lot of pressure finished with a flourish as Beagan (free), Emma McNerney and Niamh McLoughlin (free) added points.
