Meath v Dublin game for Sean Cox launched in Dunboyne

The Sean Cox fundraising match between Meath and Dublin in Pairc Tailteann on Sunday 16th December was officially launched in Dunboyne Castle Hotel last night with Meath manager Andy McEntee joined by players from both counties as well as members of the Cox family and officials from the Co Board, Leinster Council and Dunboyne GAA club.

Excitement is really starting to build ahead of the clash of the two age old rivals and while Meath's star has gone on different trajectory to Dublin's over the more recent years the game is excepected to attract a sell-out crowd of 10,000 to Pairc Tailteann.

Meath boss McEntee was joined by players Mickey Burke, Shane McEntee, Seamus Lavin and Gavin McCoy, while Dublin's Michael Dara McAuley and Eric Lowndes also lent their support to the promotion.

McEntee is looking forward to the game and is hoping for a massive turn out in Pairc Tailteann to contribute to a very worthy cause.

“This is all for a fantastic cause. The bottom line here is that we show as much support for Sean, Martina and the family as possible,” the Meath manager told the Meath Chronicle.

“At the same time the game should be as good of entertainment and as cheap a form of entertainment as anyone is going to get over the Christmas period.

“There seems to be a huge interest in it already. There are quite a few tickets sold before we even launched it here tonight.

“Dublin are the number one team in the country and they are always going to attract a big following. The fit for the occasion also seems right given Sean's involvement with Round Towers and Jim Gavin's involvment with Round Towers too.

“There is also Sean's involvement with Dunboyne and Meath and my involvement with Dunboyne and Meath too so it just seemed like a good fit, so hopefully everybody will get behind this,” said McEntee.

Tickets are selling fast and are available for here.
